Hopes Program (Hospitality Opportunities for People Reentering Society)
Over a year ago, the MRA was selected to be one of three states by both the NRA Educational Foundation and the US Department of Labor to participate in the HOPES Grant. The grant was designed to support hundreds of justice-involved young people (18-24) through training, case management support, employment and apprenticeships in the restaurant and foodservice industry.
Our partners in this initiative have been two Community Based Organizations from Boston; ABCD Boston and Community Work Services who are the providers of life coaching and the educational aspects of the program. The MRA ultimately is accountable to employment placement but have been deeply involved all aspects of the program from recruitment, education, interviews and making available ongoing culinary and hospitality education.
This program also applies to any employee working with a MRA Member Restaurant. If there are candidates you may have working for you, please reach out as it is a great opportunity to enhance their training portfolio and skills.
Each of these participants have been provided:
Given the current employment crunch, and the Restaurant and Hospitality Industry’s ongoing empathy to those seeking to right the ship, now is a great time to sign up to interview these candidates for employment in your restaurant or business. Please reach out to either Kerry Miller or Jen Almeida to learn more about HOPES and sign up to interview the participants of the program.
